Hamiltonian Artists is a local non-profit located in DC that aims to build a solid foundation for emerging artists.
Their mission is to build a dynamic community of innovative artists and effective visual art leaders by providing professional development opportunities and advancing their entrepreneurial success.
I had the pleasure of working with them and creating designs, posts, and a promotional video for their Giving Tuesday campaign!
Their Instagram is linked at the bottom of the page.
This final project was overall an awesomeexperience! My group was diligent with work and we were able to collaborate effectively and create a great campaign for Hamiltonian Artists. I knew I wanted to make a promotional video of some sorts, so my group made sure that I was able to do just that! Giving Tuesday gave us the idea to ask “why Hamiltonian?” -- or basically why people should donate and pay attention to this non-profit. I tried to use this campaign theme/slogan to create a promo video that was modern, exciting, fresh, and young-looking. Their target audience on social media is more young people, so our campaign definitely was tailored to that.
My group’s communication was effective and efficient as we were able to text in a group chat and communicate through Google Docs. Keaveny helped us plan out who was doing which part of the project by putting when we should have each part done by and what our goals were for each. She also did a wonderful job in organizing the Google Slides presentation and adding onto our goals/objectives-- we all brainstormed what the overarching message and theme was. Daniel had great tips with Photoshop and gave us advice on how to make our visuals better and cleaner (as well as his own). Daniel and I worked together to make the 2 profile pictures, since we decided to make one specifically for Giving Tuesday and one for their regular Instagram.
To add on, it was of great help to be in frequent communication with Nancy and Rex, as well as the Professor, regarding what the vision was for the promotional video. I wanted to make sure that Nancy and Rex were a part of the process and that it coincided with their business plans.
I can confidently say that I am pleased with our final product of our Giving Tuesday campaign!! We used different visual principles, from color and visual balance to framing and typography to using negative space, to create a contemporary and youthful looking brand. It was honestly so cool to work with Nancy and Rex and my group to make something for a real non-profit in D.C.-- I felt like a valuable contributor to their business, which is so gratifying!
